CUPCAKE premier performance at OPEN STUDIO!!

This has been a dream of ours for some years now and apparently dreams come true!!

We’re digging deep and pulling out all of the stops for this 3 set extravaganza!

In the 7 years since Cupcake’s inception the band’s sound has changed from 3 minute pop blasts to sophisticated, fully orchestrated funk odysseys.

To honour our debut performance at the soulful and bohemian Open Studio we’ll be taking you on a journey that covers the best Cupcake has written in the last 7 years .. and .. if you ask politely .. we’ll throw in a few classics songs we’ve reimagined.

Don’t miss this! Many bands say this but this will indeed be something special!

So order a mug of mead and a crêpe and dance the night away on Saturday 29th December! Details below…

Hot Diggity Batman!

Cupcake had their first gig of their brand new residency down at the truly awe-inspiring Fyrefly last Saturday night and all in attendance went right off their collective faces.

In simple plain english…

…we had a ball .. the audience had a ball.

Come on down for the next instalment at The Fyrefly on Saturday September 29th!!

We can’t wait!!

Cupcakes!!!!

It’s funny what brings a band together. Last night, in honour of RSPCA Victoria’s Cupcake Day, and the fact that we have just changed our name to just ‘Cupcake’ Tika baked paw print cupcakes for the whole band!! So yummy! This Saturday catch us at The Fyrefly for a sugar-fueled, dance floor melting performance! 9:30pm. 34 Inkerman St, St. Kilda. Be there!

NEW Logo!!

We had our designer pen a selection of new logos which we will launch over time but here’s the standard hot pink and orange logo that’s been reworked to reflect the band’s new name change!

Big Soul Cupcake News!!

Last Saturday Soul Cupcake embarked on their largest project since the launch of their debut album ‘Now!’.

The project; still in progress; is a large scale video of 13 songs from the Soul Cupcake repertoire featuring the brand new line-up!

Here are the stats: 10-piece band; 4 videographers; 10 cameras & 15 video lights – simply epic and exhausting however the sneak peak we’ve had at the footage looks and sounds unbelievable!

With our brand new singer Tika fronting the band and with our two new boys; Phil Hayter – alto sax & Keaton Tait – guitar; the band is more alive than ever! The new line-up has brought an excitement and energy that is palpable every time we get together!

This Saturday we’re going to bring that excitement to The Spotted Mallard for a ‘soul-down’ with a Brisbane based soul band. The band is lead by Murray Cook of Wiggles fame and the brand new band he’s got himself is called .. The Soul Movers. He’s ditched the prime coloured skivvy for funkier rags and he’s parking his big red car at The Spotted Mallard on Sat 24th Feb.

Expect 4 sets of soul drenched dancing and a night you won’t forget!
