‘Now!’ is the debut album from Soul Cupcake. This album features cutting edge re-arrangements of classic songs and brand new original songs. Most of the original songs deal with the link between ancient spirituality and recent discoveries in quantum physics. Whilst having an original sound ‘Soul Cupcake’ tries to inhabit the ground between Stevie Wonder and Tower Of Power. Utilising 3 horns, a vocalist and a 4-piece rhythm section the tunes delivered on ‘Now!’ are full, fat, funky, syncopated colossuses that will leave you running from your desk and heading for the closest dance floor.

Interestingly this 15 track album was; on the whole; recorded in three days. Not all of the tracks were intended to make the final cut but by the time the recording, editing and mastering process was finished it became impossible to omit any track. This is quite an incredible album. It was recorded in over 35 degree heat and on a shoestring budget yet the dedication and work rate of the band to play these incredibly challenging charts and the extraordinary patience and commitment of Ben Thomas our recording engineer, editor and designer have made this a truly classic sounding album. Above all the writing and arranging is well crafted and sophisticated giving songs of pop-tune length a depth and longevity rarely realised.
